Terms of Use

Welcome to Vent ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Vent mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Vent.

2. Eligibility and Age Verification

Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to use Vent.

By creating an account or using the App, you represent and warrant that:

Consequences of Misrepresentation: If we discover or reasonably believe that you have provided false age information or are under 18 years old, we reserve the right to immediately terminate your account without notice, delete all associated data, and report the violation to relevant authorities where required by law. No refunds will be provided in such cases.

We may implement additional age verification measures at any time to ensure compliance with this requirement.

3. Description of Service

Vent is a privacy-focused peer-to-peer communication platform that allows users to connect with others for supportive conversations. The App is NOT a substitute for professional mental health services, therapy, or crisis intervention.

4. Subscription Terms

Important Subscription Information: Please read this section carefully before subscribing.

4.1 Subscription Options

Vent offers optional premium subscriptions ("Vent Premium") that provide enhanced features including:

4.2 Billing and Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or as otherwise stated at the time of purchase). Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

4.3 Payment

Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

4.4 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices. Any price changes will take effect at the start of the next subscription period following the date of the change. Your continued use of the App after the price change becomes effective constitutes your agreement to pay the new price.

5. Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time by managing your subscriptions through your device settings:

Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to premium features until the end of the period you have already paid for.

5.3 Refunds

All purchases are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple or Google in accordance with their respective refund policies.

7. Content Moderation

7.1 Automated Moderation

Vent uses AI-powered automated moderation systems to maintain community safety. These systems analyze content in real-time to detect potential violations of our Community Guidelines, including but not limited to:

Based on the severity of violations, we may take the following actions:

If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you may request a human review by contacting us at appeals@vent.fit. Human review is conducted only upon appeal request and is not guaranteed for all cases. We aim to respond to appeals within 7 business days.

7.4 No Human Monitoring of Private Conversations

We do not proactively read or monitor the content of your private conversations. Human review only occurs when: (1) content is flagged by automated systems for potential severe violations, (2) another user submits a report, or (3) you submit an appeal.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTENT, ACCURACY, OR RELIABILITY OF ANY INFORMATION SHARED BY USERS.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VENT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vent and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Delaware, United States.

If you are located in the European Union, you may also have rights under applicable EU consumer protection laws, and nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under such laws.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes through the App or via email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App will cease immediately.

14. Privacy and Deletion

Your use of the App is also subject to our Privacy Policy and Data Deletion process. Deleting your account may remove access to chats, profile data, and active app functionality, but certain billing, safety, fraud, or legal records may be retained where required.
